Born in South Africa I grew up in Stellenbosch, a small town surrounded by vineyards and mountains and only a stone’s throw away from the beach. With so much nature to go around this is where I discovered my love for being in the outdoors and loving hikes in the mountains and walks on the beach in equal measure. I was also very fortunate to have lived abroad with my family for periods of time, which instilled a passion for travelling and experiencing different cultures. To this day, whenever an opportunity presents itself there is zero hesitation from me to embark on a new adventure! Knowing this, it will be no surprise to hear that I have lived in six countries to date and ‘never say never’ where the future may take me.
Of these six countries, I have spent nearly thirteen years in the UK, and this is where I discovered my passion for photography. I started off by honing my skills as a wedding photographer, even though landscapes and wildlife has always been the flame that fuelled my passion. Photographing weddings took us on an amazing adventure to live on the Greek island of Paros for a few years. Greece is an incredibly special place – the million different shades of blue that surrounds the islands are just phenomenal! That and the spectacular sunsets kept on fuelling my love for landscape photography. Every.single.day.
Eventually the travel bug bit again and we decided to relocate to Sydney where I am based now. It is here that I have fallen hook, line and sinker for seascape photography; not hard with so many beautiful beaches and ocean pools dotted around. Most weekend mornings you will find me somewhere along the coast with my tripod, waiting for the sunrise. Having also discovered the wonders of aerial photography in Sydney, I am still amazed at what is visible from such a different vantage point. The shapes, textures, colours and shadows play around in a spectacular manner to help create some magnificent images.
